We believe in teamwork, sportsmanship, and the power of community.
History of Jukskei?
Jukskei has its roots in the early 18th century, when Dragoons at Fort de Rietvallei near the Buffelsjagt River in 1734 threw yoke pins and wooden stumps at an object in the ground to fill their idle hours. The sport grew gradually, especially among transport riders at large outspans, until the first official match took place on 4 November 1939 at Keerweder farm. The South African Jukskei Board (SAJR) was founded on 25 October 1940, formally establishing jukskei as a recognised sport. The name "jukskei" comes from the pin (skei) that was pulled from the yoke of an ox, a direct link to South Africa's ox-wagon transport heritage. Today, jukskei is no longer merely a pastime, but a fully fledged competitive amateur sport that unites people from all backgrounds, grounded in a rich Afrikaner cultural heritage.
